This membrane of the probe is in contact with the patient via a coupling gel and enables the ultrasound image to be produced. The probe membrane can be damaged as it is in direct contact with the patient and cleansed with unsuitable disinfectants.
The membranes wear out and tear, leading to a number of problems including lower image quality, penetration of gel into the plastic housing and destruction of the piezoelectric elements.
Only regular preventive checkups and repairs to your probe can help to protect it.
